**IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL ATHLETES**
ATHLETES ARE NOT to be dropped off by parents or other non-students, at curbside, anytime between the hours 7AM - 3PM.
The ONLY allowable reason is if the athlete is injured and cannot walk to building; IN ADDITION, THEY MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT to see trainer on record with Parking Attendant. This can be obtained by contacting Mrs. Spraberry or Mr. Savannah, the day/night before and they will inform the attendant.
DO NOT initiate a disturbance for any reason by arguing, debating or trying to get special privileges at the guard house.
THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
Tomball Memorial High School has two licensed athletic trainers to provide healthcare for our student-athletes, Mrs. Carissa Spraberry and Mr. Khefren Savannah. The trainers can be reached at 281-357-3230 ext. 1189
Head Athletic Trainer
Carissa has been a certified athletic trainer since 2004. A Houston native, she graduated from Westfield High School in 2000 and achieved her bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Stephen F. Austin State University while working women’s soccer, football and women’s basketball.
Following her graduation she began her career as an athletic trainer in Longview, TX at Pine Tree High School and obtained her Master’s in Kinesiology and Biomechanics at the University of Texas Tyler in 2006. Carissa is an active member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, Southwest Athletic Trainer’s Association as well as the Texas State Athletic Trainer’s Association and Grater Houston Athletic Trainers Society. In 2008, Carissa was selected as the first Chair of the SWATA, Young Professionals’ Committee, and represented the district on the NATA Young Professional’s Committee. In 2009, Carissa was honored to receive the SWATA New Horizon Award presented annually to a young professional in recognition for their unique contributions to SWATA, and the profession.
Carissa enjoys community service and volunteering her skills for various charity and athletic events. She helped create the NATA Annual Community Service Project focused on teaching under-served inner-city youth in the host city of the NATA Annual Meeting about the importance of good nutrition, hydration, exercise and how to exercise to minimize injury risk. She has been on the medical crew for the Komen 3-day, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and Chevron Houston Marathon. When not at work, Carissa enjoys spending time with her family, husband Lonnie and two dogs.
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Khefren began at Tomball Memorial High School in 2014 - 2015 as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. He has been a professional athletic trainer for the past four years. From 2010 - 2014, he was an Assistant Athletic Trainer at San Benito High School.
Khefren is a graduate of Michael DeBakey High School and The University of Houston where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. During his time there he primarily worked with the football, baseball, softball, and women’s soccer teams while gaining experience with track & field, volleyball, basketball, and swimming & diving as a Student Athletic Trainer.
Khefren has worked two summers (2008, 2009) with the Houston Texans, taking on various responsibilities, and assignments.
Khefren is currently a Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Texas. He is an active member of the Valley Athletic Trainers Association and the Texas State Athletic Trainers Association.
Khefren enjoys spending time with his wife Kari, soon to come daughter Iva (2014), and two dogs.
REPORT ANY AND ALL SUSPECTED INJURIES TO THE
This includes: sprains, strains, pains, cuts, fractures, spasms, concussions, contusions.
All suspected injuries will be evaluated in our facility by our trainers who will communicate with parents and coaches; and students will be referred to a physician as necessary.
Student-athletes are responsible for turning in all medical notes and forms into the trainer’s office room 1643.
