Welcome to AP/DC Government and AP Economics. I am excited to explore these subjects with you. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Houston, Main Campus. I have been teaching for many years and love it. I have been teaching in TISD since 2000. I have also served as an adjunct professor in both government and economics through Lone Star College.
Grading for AP Government and DC Government is as follows:
30% Quizzes, presentations, etc.
70% Major (each grading period will consist of 3 to 5 major grades).
All government students will need to purchase The Nine. I encourage them to order early and get used copies. There are 40 copies in the library, but they are first come, first serve. Also, DC students will need to purchase the Lone Star College selected textbook. Information will be provided to the students during the first week of class. I am fine with them purchasing a previous edition but not older than 2 editions.
Tutoring for AP and DC Government is Thursday 2:50 pm, Friday 7:00 am and 2:50 pm. Students wishing to meet must come with specific questions reflecting that they have done the necessary research and reading prior to the tutoring session.
Tutoring for AP Economics is 7:15 every morning but Wednesday, 7th period and every afternoon but Friday from 2:50 to 3:30. Usually, I will insist that students in need of tutoring schedule an appointment. I will also take walk ins if necessary.
All students will be required to keep a notebook for this class (3 ring binder, dividers with pockets)
