Chris is in his fifth year at Tomball Memorial and eleventh year in Tomball ISD. He has been teaching percussion for 21 years in Texas public school. His duties include teaching all percussionists at Tomball Memorial HS, Willow Wood Jr. High, Northpointe Intermediate, and Oakcrest Intermediate. Besides being the Percussion specialist, he assists with all other facets of the band program for the TMHS cluster.
Chris's previous teaching experience includes 4 years with the A&M Consolidated HS cluster in College Station, TX, 6 years as the head band director for Waller Jr. High in Waller, TX, and 6 years as percussion specialist for Tomball High School.
He holds a bachelor degree in music from Sam Houston State University and a master’s degree in education from Lamar University. While in college, Chris performed in many ensembles including marching band, jazz band, concert band, full orchestra, and percussion ensemble.
Chris has had the privilege to perform with many professional groups and artists including the Sky Ryders Drum & Bugle Corps, the NFL Texans Bull Pen Pep Band, Shania Twain, and Keith Urban to name a few. He was also on the staff with Percussion One, a non-profit percussion ensemble in the Houston area, for 8 years.
Chris is married to Christine who is also a band director. She teaches at Kleb Intermediate in Klein ISD. They have 3 kids Ellie age 13, Zakary age 9, and Micah age 7. They also have 4 cats Angel, Avery, Thor, and Turbo.
Chris is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Percussive Arts Society.
